2014 Book Club Reading Selections
Thursday, February 20th 1:00 PM Franklin and Lucy by, Joseph E. Persico
"In Franklin and Lucy, acclaimed author and historian Joseph E. Persico explores FDR’s romance with Lucy Rutherfurd. Persico’s provocative conclusions about their relationship are informed by a revealing range of sources, including never-before-published letters and documents from Lucy Rutherfurd’s estate that attest to the intensity of the affair, which lasted much longer than was previously acknowledged."
Monday , February 24th 6:00 PM One Day, by David Nicholls
"It’s 1988 and Dexter Mayhew and Emma Morley have only just met. But after only one day together, they cannot stop thinking about one another. Over twenty years, snapshots of that relationship are revealed on the same day—July 15th—of each year. Dex and Em face squabbles and fights, hopes and missed opportunities, laughter and tears. And as the true meaning of this one crucial day is revealed, they must come to grips with the nature of love and life itself."

Recent Reads was begun as a national program. Now many libraries in Delaware are participating. The main idea of Recent Reads is to allow people to get together and discuss what they are reading, but without the need to have all read the same book at the same time. In the process of discussing what they have read, they also find out what others are reading and whether or not they liked each book. Each reader gets to decide what they will read next based on the reviews of others.
